Strategy

The Department of Health has updated the way Primary Care Trusts plan their local services. Previously each PCT produced a Local Delivery Plan (LDP). Now we produce three plans:

  • An annual operating plan that sets out what the PCT will be doing in that year
  • The second is a five year plan called the Strategic Commissioning Plan. This plan sets out the vision for the PCT, its strategic objectives and details what we will be commissioning in order to achieve our vision and goals. It is a five year plan but we will be updating it annually
  • The third plan is the Capabilities Plan and covers workforce development, governance etc.

The London Boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham have complex and challenging health needs. Services must be offered that meet these needs and which enable local people to improve their health in buildings that are fit for the purpose, accessible and which are sensitive to the cultural values of local communities.

It a strategic framework for local health and social care organisations to:

  • Achieve service objectives through effective investment in community based
    health and social care facilities
  • Use collective resources to the best effect and in particular to maximise the use
    of available sites
  • Seize opportunities to work collaboratively with other agencies where this
achieves better results for the population served.
