1. Funding for mental health promotion activities needs to be sustained, despite the current financial climate, as ‘invest to save’ initiatives.
2. The Mental Health Awareness Training toolkit should be used to reduce stigma and discrimination across Southwark. NHS organisations will need to increase staff capacity to support this.
3. Health and social care commissioners and service planners should work in partnership to develop and implement a local action plan based on the Mental Health and Social Exclusion Report – in particular in areas of stigma and discrimination, employment and housing.
5. The impact on mental health and emotional wellbeing should be assessed when planning, developing and implementing initiatives within and outside health sector organisations, especially when dealing with large regeneration projects or specific community proposals.
