Peckham & Camberwell (P&C) Locality comprises the wards Camberwell Green, Brunswick Park, Peckham, The Lane, part of Livesey (shared with Bermondsey & Rotherhithe Locality) and part of Nunhead (shared with Dulwich Locality).
However, for the purposes of this report, only the four whole wards Camberwell Green, Brunswick Park, Peckham and The Lane are included.
Deprivation
All wards in Peckham & Camberwell are among the 30% most deprived in the country (according to the Index of Multiple Deprivation). Some parts of every ward are in the 10% most deprived category, particularly those areas lining the Walworth Road, Peckham High Street and Old Kent Road.
Housing tenure
As with Southwark as a whole, P&C has a high proportion of homes rented either from the Council or other social landlord. In Peckham ward 73% of homes are rented in this way (62% from the Council).
Overcrowding
In the 2001 census, 29% of P&C households were defined as ‘overcrowded’ compared with 25% for Southwark as a whole and 7% nationally.
