Group of young people out drinkingHealth and social problems arise from the misuse of all kinds of drugs. The drugs can include heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, alcohol or cannabis and the problems can affect partners, family and friends as well as the person using the drug.

 

Alcohol Awareness Week 14 - 20 November

 

This week (14-20 November) is Alcohol Awareness Week, an Alcohol Concern initiative which acts as an annual focus on particular issues relating to society's relationship with alcohol.

 

Locally, Insight Southwark will be holding 2 open access days on Tuesday 15th November and Thursday 17th November from 3 - 6pm.  This is open to all young people up to the age of 19 and will include:

  • Alcohol simulator ·
  • Mock-tails ·
  • An opportunity to voice your opinion on how Alcohol affects you and where you live. ·
  • Interactive activities

Insight will also be holding an open day for professional and young people on Saturday 19th November, 1 - 6pm.

All the above will be held at Insight Southwark, Unit 15 -16, 0'Central, 83 Crampton Street, London, SE17 3BT.

To highlight the need for a public commitment to reduction in alcohol harm as reflected in the call to action, Alcohol Concern are encouraging people around the country to take part in a national conversation based on two questions:

  • Is the social cost of alcohol too high?
  • What is a drink problem?
